I absolutely loved this appointment; there were
some lovely dogs for me to go over a super atmosphere with lots of applause to
greet my winners. Special thanks to my steward Helen Hankins who kept me on the
straight and narrow during the day.
As an outsider looking at the breed the only
two general comments I would make are; firstly please watch your fronts. I
found a number with short upper arms which gave a rather unbalanced outline and
an untidy action as they came towards me. The other concern were that some were
long in loin and over angulated behind, while this can look flashy it is not
the moderate stifles that the standard calls for. Consequently these dogs did not
have the rear drive that is necessary to do their job.
My Best
in Show winner came from the open bitch class in SH CH BOWDONIA SERAPHINA JW ShCM who I
thought was on top form and just stunning.
My Reserve Best in Show went to the second in open the very lovely SH CH JACRANELLA SYMPHONY. Best
Opposite Sex in Show was the young dog BOWDONIA
ONLY THE BRAVE FOR CERYSAN, who I see carries the same prefix as the BIS
winner. Best Puppy in show going to KILLENA ONE NITE LOVE AFFAIR. My Best
Veteran in show was the very smart SH CH
GEMILL BACK TO THE FUTURE FOR CERYSAN JW ShCM,
who it transpired was sire to the Best Dog winner.

CH GEMILL BACK TO THE FUTURE FOR CERYSAN JW ShCM
What a smart dog to start the day with, stood out
in the class for outline and breed type. He has a super headpiece on him,
enhanced by chiselling and lovely eye. Clean through the neck which led into
correctly placed shoulders and a decent front assembly. Enough depth to chest,
ribs well sprung and back. Quarters are well made with moderate angulation.
Best mover in the class with a good action in profile and fore and aft. I shortlisted him down to the last four and I
was seriously considering him for top honours but I think he was a little hot
and he just lost his shape and top line. A cracking dog from any angle,
delighted to award him BEST VETERAN IN
SHOW.
2nd BREAK
THE RULES AT PEGASETT
Another one who was definitely enjoying his day
out. Had good overall balance, masculine in head with a good eye. Not quite the
front assembly of the winner, well made in body with ribs well sprung and a
firm loin. Gave his hander a bit of a hard time on the move, good in profile
but was not as accurate as Back to the Future as he came towards me today.
3rd STEDIGAN PIPERS PIPING FOR MERREM ShCM
Puppy
1st KILLENA
GHOSTRIDER
He won this class on his outline and overall
construction, more together that the second today. He has a decent head shape
and eye giving a masculine expression for his age. Clean through the neck. Has
good bone and feet. Well-proportioned through the body and quarters developing
nicely. Did enough on the move today to take the class, Best Puppy Dog.
2nd JULITA
RHYNE
I liked this boy a lot but he just wouldn’t settle
in this class, he subsequently came back in the ring in one of the later classes
and was much more together. He had a good overall shape and outline and is
clearly well made. He is at that growing stage where some elements grow out of
proportion, but once they all catch up with themselves he should finish well.
Needs to learn his job on the move. He was very much a playful puppy today and
it was great to see him enjoining himself. I am sure he will have plenty of fun
as he matures up.

This young man I liked a lot, I thought him very
promising for his age. I like his overall shape and size. I found his head very
appealing with a good masculine expression, will hopefully finish well. Loved
his clean neck in to correctly placed shoulders, with a good return of upper
arm. Good width to his front for his age. Legs well boned and super feet. Ribs
springing nicely and firm through the loin. Moderate quarters with stifles well
bent. Coat super, presented in top class condition. Moved out well with a good
action. One for the future in my opinion.
2nd ISFRYN
KING LEIR AT BLYTHWAY
Liked this dog on the stack but he wasn’t as good
on the move as the winner. Head is masculine with good definition, neck strong
and shoulder placement ok, a little short in upper arm. Legs well boned and
neat feet. Body well made, good depth to chest for his age, ribs springing well
and he has a firm loin. Quarters were well made. Not the fluidity on the move
of one and I would have liked him a little tidier as he came towards me.

I liked the outline and shape on this chap. Scored
in overall construction and angulation. Head is masculine and off good
proportions, with a pleasing eye. Strong through the neck into a good front,
shoulder well laid and a good return of upper arm. On the stack can sometime
dip behind the shoulders but on the move his topline was level and he just flows.
Body well made with ribs well sprung and a firm loin. Best mover in the class

Won this class as he was the most fluid on the
move. Head is good and appealing, well-proportioned, I personally wouldn’t want
it any stronger. Strong through the neck with a good front assembly. Decent
return of upper arm and stands on well boned legs and good feet. Body of good
proportions, quarters well made.
2nd CHERRYHEATH’S

He has a pleasing masculine expression. Neck OK but
carrying a bit of weight over his shoulders today, good front angulation, legs
well boned and a good depth to chest. Ribs are well sprung. Quarters are well
made with moderately bent stifles, would have just liked a better finish to his
croup. Not as fluid on the move today, he was rolling a shade and this cost him
the class.

Another young boy who appealed. I liked him for
size, not over done in anyway. I thought him very typical. He has a good head
with chiselling and definition. Lovely. Super neck in to shoulders and good
angles fore and aft. He has a decent return of upper arm. Good depth of chest,
ribs well sprung and a firm loin. Drove off his rear with a good action, lovely
to see him enjoying it so much as his tail never stopped wagging.
2nd STEDIGAN
ALL IN GOOD TIME FOR MERREM
Four year old boy who was very typy
and a lot to like about him. He has a pleasing headpiece which was appealing.
Good neck in to shoulders, just a tad heavy over the shoulders. Well boned legs
and a good depth to chest about him. Body of good proportions. Rear is well
made with a good moderate bend of stifle and correct angles.

I really like his overall shape and size. Moderate
is stamped through him, nothing overdone here. He has a lovely head on him, balanced
and without exaggeration, enhanced by a good eyes shape. Strong neck leading in
to well-placed shoulders, good depth to him and ribs well spring. Strong
quarters which were well muscled. Just needs a shade more confidence. Very accurate
on the move with a clean action and this gave him the class over the second
which I liked a lot. In the challenge I thought he just had that balance,
elegance and finish that I was looking for. Pleased to award him Best Dog and later Best Opposite Sex in show. Congratulation I wish him well.

Another very smart dog with a pleasing head and
expression, not quite a clean as the winner in outline. Decent front assembly on him, shoulder well
placed. Good well boned legs. Ribs well sprung and a firm loin. Quarters well

shade untidy behind today as he went away.

front. Good depth to his chest, ribs well spring and firm through the loin.
Super quarters with stifles well bent and hocks well let down. Smart on the
move with a good action. Held his shape well in the challenge and this gave him
the edge. Reserve Best Dog.

Hard to believe this lady was twelve and a half,
she looked half that age. Lovely feminine head and expression, only the
greyness of her muzzle gave away her age. I liked her head and expression,
which reminded me very much of our old champion bitch. Clean neck in to well
set shoulders. Stands on good legs with neat feet. Body well made, with ribs
well sprung. Quarters well made with good angles. Out moved Guiletta

Nice type of bitch developing in the right direction.
Very pretty in head which is coming along, neck in to shoulders good but would
like a shade more return of upper arm. Good well boned legs and neat feet. Body
growing in proportion and quarters well angulated. Needs to find her feet on
the move to complete the picture. I thought her more balanced than her brother
was the puppy dog, so therefore she was BEST

This young lady is only 12 months but took my
attention as she entered the ring. She has the most superb outline, totally
feminine and not a hit of coarseness. I liked her head, overall shape good with
a kind eye to give a beautiful expression. Neck clean into a well assembled
front with a good lay back of shoulder. Stands on good legs and neat feet. Body
developing nicely, good length and overall proportion. Quarters are developing
as they should, stifles are moderately bent. Scored in movement with a fluid
action and a super side gate. Shortlisted her to the final four in the
challenge, in my humble opinion I think she may have a bright future ahead of
her.
2nd ISFRYN LADY GODIVA AT FIREGLOW
Another good one here, pleasing headpiece but a tad

quarters which were well muscled. She presented with a super clean outline.
Fluid on the move with a good action. Pulled her in to the final run off for
best bitch. I think if she carries on in this direction she will have a bright
future ahead of her.

excelled on the move with a ground covering action. Pleasing expression with a

depth about her and legs well bone. Ribs well sprung, just a tad long in loin
but makes a good shape. Moderately bent stifles and good muscle tone.

Another very nice type of bitch who had style about

A very elegant bitch who is totally feminine and on
form today. Lovely head shape with the right amount of work to give a beautiful
feminine expression. Super neck in to well set shoulders, correct return of
upper arm to give good front angulation. Ribs well sprung and a muscular loin.
Quarters have balanced angles and are well developed with stifles well bent.
Came alive on the move with a fluid driving action off the rear and it was this
that gave her the class over Symphony. She stood out in the line up and was
completely at one with her handler. I was delighted to aware her Best Bitch and subsequently Best in Show. I was not surprised to
see that she already has her title as she has quality stamped through her.

Another top flight bitch who really appealed to me
and I could easily see she was from top drawer. Another with a super head
piece, strong neck in to well set shoulders and a good front assembly. Good
depth to brisket and ribs well sprung, loin firm. Well made rear, stifles well
bent and hocks well let down. Good action on the move, a shade close behind and
didn’t quite have the enthusiasm of the winner today, which cost her the class.

was of correct proportions and included the desired ear set, eye colour and

Would have preferred slightly more depth to brisket and spring of rib,
but this bitch still has time to mature.
Moderately angled hindquarters, with well let down hocks. Moved true coming and going.
